Switching to Tangerine

  1. Check your phone is unlocked and works on the Telstra network, because Tangerine uses it. Look at the coverage map for the places you live and work.
  2. Keep your number: ask Tangerine to move it when you sign up, and don't cancel your old plan first. Your old provider texts a code to confirm, and the move is usually done the same day.
  3. Expect a bill, not a recharge: it's postpaid. The smallest first bill is $15 (Tangerine 30GB).
  4. None of the 5 Tangerine plans we track has a lock-in contract, so you can leave without a fee.
  5. eSIM (no plastic SIM) is listed on 5 of 5 plans, so you can switch on the spot with a compatible phone.
  6. Our data says that if your data runs out it stops until the next recharge or month, with no extra charge.
  7. Deal prices are for new services only. Moving your number to this provider counts as new, but check the terms on the plan page.

How the prices line up

Each dot is a plan. Further right means more data a month; higher means a dearer first year. Cheapest $300, dearest $600.
